This 2003 album, the one and only release by the East Coast aggregation who regularly visit Britain to play the Creation Fest, is finally reviewed by Cross Rhythms. Some fans of their explosive live performances may be a tad disappointed that there's nothing of the Linkin Park style rock raps here. Instead, the album kicks off with some old school pop raps with sung hooks not dissimilar to early dc Talk before moving to quite a bit of sung acoustic-driven pop rock. Much more interesting is "La Guitarra" which after a flourish of tasty Spanish guitar develops into a full scale, rapid syllable Latin rap. And "Nightmares & Dreams" and "Rescue" are acoustic songs, with distinct appeal with the "Rescue" song also turning up in a more produced version as a hidden track. Probably, the most effective thing about the album though are the harmonies on many of the tracks. Clearly these guys have considerable vocal talent demonstrated by their West Coast styles ensemble work. And their passionate heart for radical discipleship comes through loud and clear. Now, all they need is a new, more focussed album.
