Budget price CD from Music Club, who are turning out some great stuff, lurking in your local music emporium. This isn't really one of them though, it's the sort of compilation that I never make friends with. The choice of material is okay if you are wanting recordings of evergreens of the "Abide With Me", "Amazing Grace" and "Now Thank We All Our God" type. Trouble is, I always like to really get into one artist's music and get restless switching across various styles such as we have here. Competing for space are several choirs, Moira Anderson and Harry Secombe. All notable worthies, and nothing wrong with nay of the performances, it's just all so bitty and unremarkable. If you want standard hymns, the Kingsway 'Hymnmakers' series is much more convincing.
