In a music industry which has seen the biggest Christian record companies downsize or go bust, the launch of Sussex-based 7Core Music, a tiny little independent compared to the Christian imprints of the multi-national monoliths, by record producer Trevor Michael must have seemed like an exercise in financial suicide. But not only has Michael's 7Core survived but it's gone on to become the best independent label, bar none, at producing contemporary music good enough to play on Cross Rhythms radio. And be it the hauntingly wistful Tina Boonstra's "Concrete Heart"; powerful worship man Ian Yates with his "Blackout"; the intriguing electro doodlings of The Neon Ambiance or the nostalgic "Skimming Stones" by the Throwback Kid aka Pete James, everything works. A delightful compilation.
