If you're anything like me, and get somewhat frustrated at the continued series of 'WOW' compilations and their assembly of safe, middle of the road selections, this American compilation will be a huge breath of fresh air. The 'Absolute Smash Hits' compilations are distinctly edgier and riskier, and they have left me feeling very satisfied to know that CCM is indeed in good hands with a set of ground breaking artists. It is hard to single out one outstanding track as they are all good, from classics like Sixpence's awesome "Breathe Your Name", Salvador's excellent "Breathing Life" and Plumb's "Taken" to newer acts getting Cross Rhythms radio exposure like Mute Math's superb Sting-esque "Peculiar People", Superchic[k]'s "One Girl Revolution" (complete with an incredible mix), and the thunderous bass of Jill Phillips'"Wrecking Ball" (with a reference to what sounds like Bob The Builder - listen to the lyrics, trust me!). The only drawback, if there is one, is that some of the tracks are two to three years old now. But that is counterbalanced by the showcasing of brand new stuff on the bonus cuts.
