Three and even five-CD box sets of all types and genres of Christian music have become a notable feature of output from major record companies in recent years. The present three-disc compilation contains 60 solo acoustic guitar renditions of praise and worship songs old and new. The vast majority are well known and instantly recognisable. It's the very occasional lesser known hymnal choice that I'm most drawn to - such as "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence", a traditional French carol psalter. The music throughout is delectably played and thankfully lyrics to all tunes are provided in the sleevenotes. What we're not told, sadly, is the name of this most proficient of instrumentalists - why his/their name(s) should be kept hidden from us I have no idea - bit like releasing a film without crediting any of the actors. Very pleasant music, certainly - though probably more suitable as reflective background music than anything else.
