Released in support of a California based outreach mission to the homeless and underprivileged, this 30 track compilation is bursting at the seams with energy and raw passion. It features 15 different artists, each contributing two tracks and has been compiled by the respected Thumper Punk label. In the true tradition of punk rock, the recording is a little rough around the edges, but showcases some of the best artists in this genre including the British talents of Peter118, The Poor Geezers and Ambassadors Of Shalom. In addition to this there are contributions from Platoon 1107 sounding on top of their game with the heavy "Separatist" and "I Am Who I Am" by the Lonely Revolts with its infectious and edgy chorus. There is no hiding from the authentic background from which the tracks are drawn. With no overdubs or production polishing, it sounds as though you are at the venues. You are regularly treated to mistakes, guitar buzzes and audience conversations, but all this adds to the charm of the project. In most cases lyrics are forthright and cannot be mistaken for vague hints at faith, all underpinned by machine gun drumming and punchy guitars. With its rough edges this will not be to everyone's taste, but this reviewer found the energy and stripped back sound refreshing.
