This is one of the best Christmas compilations I've heard in quite a while. The music is varied, well chosen and performed, the voices are strong and exude commitment - what else would you expect from the likes of Chris Tomlin, Bebo Norman and Jeremy Camp? Most of the songs are familiar but for the most part they are given a fresh treatment here that is imaginative and respectful. "Hark The Herald Angels Sing" is the ideal opening track, setting the confident and uplifting tone; "Give This Christmas Away" with Matthew West and Amy Grant has the makings of an anthem; "The First Noel" showcases the impressive vocal talents of alt rock band Future Of Forestry; Mandisa gives a soulful rendition of "Angels We Have Heard On High", Heather Headley's distinctive voice enhances "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "Silent Night" is given an unusual treatment by Sanctus Real which is smoky and moody. I'm not sure it works but it might grow on me.
