From the producers of surprise hit movie God Is Not Dead comes the film Do You Believe. Although the film, like its predecessor, was slated by the critics, the soundtrack is definitely worth hearing. The album has a strong start with "Love Was Stronger" performed by Audio Adrenaline featuring some powerful lyrics proclaiming the love of Jesus ("I tried resisting grace but the son of God still took my place"). The Newsboys track "We Believe" is a modern anthem. Then things slow down with a simple yet worshipful song "You're Beautiful" from Phil Wickham. The next few tracks are upbeat and fast tempoed from Ashes Remain, Seventh Time Down and The Digital Age then near the end of the album, Citizen Way gives us "How Sweet The Sound" which starts slow and with its building musical arrangement moves up through the gears as the track develops. "How Sweet The Sound" did peak at number one in the US Christian inspirational chart last year. We await a glimpse of Do You Believe? to see whether the reviewers who got God Is Not Dead so wrong have done the same with this film. In the meantime, I can report that the soundtrack is pretty good.
