The African Christian scene's colourful diversity and extrovert vitality is well portrayed on these two compilation CDs. The first volume has 14 artists covering a range of styles, mostly highly rhythmic and traditional, also featuring some glorious soaring choral sounds. The harmony singing of groups such as the Pieterburg Top Ten, Newcastle Five Roses and ZYAC Choir embodies all that exemplifies this genre's inimitable vocal splendour. Tracks to give a specially attentive listen to include Richard Nwabi's very catchy opener "Xilongo", the traditional hymn "Haye Jarusalema" in which Majalefa A Morena sing of the heavenly Jerusalem and the wonderful track by Ivangeli Loxolo. Thoroughly enjoyable set.
