This CD contains 24 tracks of the music which provided the roots source of rock'n'roll, blues, soul, and so much timeless music. This compilation presents some of the most electrifying startling early black music on record, quartets, soloists, singing groups all of whom create amazing rhythm, and pulsating beat with little more than the accapella voice. I played some of this to a fourteen - year old, and she was totally "Knocked out" by the raw power of these supreme songsters. You haven't lived 'until you've heard Prophet Powers, or thrilled to Rev. Anderson Johnson's little outing "God Don't Like It" the Southern Revivalists of N.O. are overwhelming and who can resist the Violinaires, Radio Four, or Five Blind Boys. 17 Different acts in all each with a very distinctive style, and all with super sound quality. Maybe you've been hooked by the recent upsurge of interest in Blind Willie Johnson or Rev. Gary Davis, or just long for a change from pop stuff.
