Having released a successful Gotta Have Gospel! Christmas compilation last year RCA Inspiration are understandably keen to repeat the exercise with another holiday season set. It's a pretty good one too, with Fred Hammond's funky "His Name Is Jesus" from 2001's 'Christmas: Just Remember' album; Mary Mary's "Only One" from 2006's 'A Mary Mary Christmas' and - the most recent cut here - "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" by Ayana George - a fine singer we'll surely be hearing more of in the future. As with every compilation, particularly one which pulls in tracks from as far back as 1996 ("No Christmas Without You" by John P Kee & The New Life Community Choir), one or two things already sound a tad dated. Also, to my tastes, "Christmas Medley" by Richard Smallwood & Vision is a dull run through of a batch of carols. But as I said, this is still a good album you'd be pleased to find under the Christmas tree.
