In all probability there are clauses in your contract when you sign to a big US CCM company like Sparrow which demand you're on hand to record as many various artists albums as the record company sees fit. Take this album for instance. A stupefying unoriginal idea - a group of top CCM acts (Steve Green, Twila Paris, 4Him, Larnelle Harris, Point Of Grace, CeCe Winans, Wayne Watson and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir) performing well known hymns like "The Old Rugged Cross", "Softly And Tenderly" and "How Great Thou Art". The quality ranges from the very nice (Twila Paris' rendition of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness") to the breast-beatingly theatric (Steve Green's "All Creatures Of Our God And King"). If you're a mad keen follower of one or more of the artists in question you might want to purchase this to complete your collection but in truth many of these hymns are over-recorded while the formulaic predictability of the project probably has more to do with accountants than the inspiration of the Spirit.
