Recently the BBC TV series Songs Of Praise presented a poll to find the UK's most popular hymns. "In Christ Alone" came second only to "How Great Thou Art". The latter was featured in another volume in the series. On this volume, a similar formula is pursued with 18 hymns demonstrating the timeless power of these evergreens with their powerful lyrics. Sadly the same formula of nameless artists continue as with previous volumes, but there are classics here including "Amazing Grace" (Newton), "Be Thou My Vision" (Byrne, Hull), "Crown Him With Many Crowns" (Bridges, Thring, Elvey) and "Praise My Soul, The King Of Heaven" (Lyte, Goss). The danger, as before, is that 'Hymns Of Worship: In Christ Alone' will be swamped by similar collections in the marketplace.
