There is a strange phenomenon occurring in the States at the moment concerning alternative type music: the good bands are signed to Tooth And Nail and the not-so-good bands end up on compilations like this. This album features five bands - Union, The Cry, Spatt, Trio Of One and The Crucified - but there doesn't seem to be a real reason as to why any of them are on this compilation. The songs aren't awful, but surely there must be some greater talents in the American underground than these four (I'm deliberating ignoring The Crucified, because they're hardly newcomers to the scene). Union's "Cry" is a competent song, as is Spatt's "Farm", but highlights are few and far between. Perhaps that's why The Crucified's "Power Of God" closes the album - it's its saving grace.
