This is a praise album with a difference and I have not stopped playing it since the day it arrived! This is the fourth in the 'Breakaway Praise' series which specialises in "fresh, contemporary arrangements of today's favourite praise music" though none of the first three made it to these shores. That's surprising as on offer is praise sung by a lot of CCM luminaries. Although listed under pop, the music ranges in style from rock to easy listening and from acappella gospel to dance. I love the dance version of Graham Kendrick's "Shine Jesus Shine" by Crystal Lewis. Other songs range from "Morning Has Broken" to "The Battle Belongs To The Lord" with favourites like "Blessed Be The Lord God Almighty", "He Has Made Me Glad" and "Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart" also included. A variety of artists have contributed to this compilation including John Schlitt from Petra, Rick Florian from White Heart, Phil Keaggy, First Call, Kim Boyce and Jon Gibson. The balance in styles is just right, the arrangements are excellent as are the performances. This album will appeal to all ages and I intend to buy a copy for a 12 year old who was saved 10 days ago. I also intend to keep it in my own player for quite some time yet!
