The term 'rock' means different things to different people and this, Word's first rock collection in the Music 2C series, certainly aims to cater for us all. From the pumping heavy metal of Guardian, through the typical AOR of Randy Stonehill, Russ Taff and girl rockers Rachel Rachel, to a particularly indie-derived Choir and the almost country-fied rock ballad of Kenny Marks there's not really a thread to pick out between them -unless you count the fact that they've all got lovely long locks! In addition though, no track stands out as naff and with the inclusion of the superb Steve Taylor classic "Jim Morrison's Grave", a particularly OK vid turns out pretty good. Unfortunately most of the video filming is stuck in the "this is us in rehearsal" and "this is us live" mode, but thankfully, with the grabbing camera work on "J M's Grave" and the alternative originality of the Choirs' "Robin Had A Dream", there is enough variation to keep your eyes as well as your ears happy -although I'm not sure why anybody should have any difficulty with watching the whole thing through, it's only 27 minutes long!
