Elevation Records is one of the major players in the UK as far as recording and releasing music for children goes. Their aim is simple - to provide resources to help kids know Jesus better through the use of great content, inspired tunes and fantastic musical arrangements. 'My First Lullaby Album' is one of a series which includes 'My First Bible Story Songs', 'My First Scripture Songs Album' and 'My First Worship Album'. The album contains songs written by a wide variety of songwriters including Mike Burn, Jenny Legg, David Lyle Morris, Paul Field and C Austin Miles. The 16 track album certainly does contain soothing vocals, calming melodies and messages of God's love. However, a couple of tracks have an oom-pah-pah style with a fairground organ sound that does not sit well alongside the other, gentler tracks which one would expect on an album such as this. "Father's Precious Baby" is a beautiful song that is well orchestrated and contains the heartfelt words of a father for his child. I enjoyed the Celtic arrangement of "The Lord's Prayer" along with the crystal clear yet gentle vocals. The whole album concludes with "Jesus, Friend Of Little Children" which is a well written prayer, whilst perhaps not easily understood by tiny-tots, does provide a fitting ending to the recording. My one and a half year old daughter loved listening to this album - so what more can I say?
