Our hymns' is part of a complete package of goodies designed to help music leaders perform contemporary arrangements with their youth group. Already on album, hymns are chosen by the likes of Russ Taff (Near The Cross), Amy Grant (Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus), and Petra (Onward Christian Soldiers), along with a potted history of each. The hymns are arranged in three part harmony for the choir - Soprano, Alto and Bass - a good idea I think as it allows for the imbalance of male/female voices that is likely to occur in the average youth group, where the girls outnumber the guys - many of whom would probably not want to sing anyway, given the choice! There's something here for everybody, from the intricate arrangements of 'Holy, Holy, Holy' - chosen by M W Smith, to the simplicity of 'Tis So Sweet', and there's a depth to the lyrics of some of these hymns that modern worship writers have never been able to match
