Opening with a reading over music of Matthew 25 v 35-40 which gives the Biblical rationale for the existence of the foodbank, the music is modern praise and worship. The similarity in musical approach makes the project sound like a consistent album rather than a collection of artists donating material. As it turns out, two of the tracks here were recorded especially for the album. Even the gentle rap of Bruce John featuring Sam Newman slides nicely in amongst the others (not that I'd recommend trying to teach it to a congregation!) and the closing instrumental "Amaryllis" fits well, if often betraying its origins as a soundtrack to a film/dance piece. For me the outstanding tracks were "Jesus I Come To Worship" by Beth Tysall and "Before You Say Goodbye" by James Herring. Also impressive is Irenie White whose delicate vocal delivery brings Minnie Ripperton to mind. As an album, it's a pretty good showcase of the talent abounding in Rugby's churches. And with buyers' money going to such a worthy cause here's hoping it gets heard beyond the confines of that city.
