Vast range of backgrounds and musical roots combining effectively in this purposeful concept project. Black gospel reps include some Winans, Donna McElroy, Yolanda Adams and members of Anointed. Tanya Goodman and Janet Paschal are from the southern gospel scene, Crystal Lewis, Kathy Troccoli and Ashley Cleveland are pop oriented. Add in the talents of such as Tata Vega, Annie Herring and Cindy Morgan and we are getting somewhere. Pleasing to note Beth Nielsen Chapman's presence, a wonderful writer/performer whose great album I reviewed in early CR days, which wasn't issued here, presumably because she had not yet made a clearly Christian stand. Some of this CD is a bit too gooey and soppy and certain songs are on the bland side musically. The idea is better than the music.
