For those who enjoy the BBC's premier religious programme down the years there have been a number of spin-off albums featuring performances from some of the hundreds of choirs, congregations and soloists featured on the small screen. This Yuletide offering originally came out in 1999 but clearly Kingsway Music thought it worth a reissue in 2009. All the favourites are here ("O Come All Ye Faithful", "O Little Town", "The First Noel" etc) sung by such guests as Daniel O'Donnell (three tracks) and the late Sir Harry Secombe (one track). The Huddersfield Choral Society and the Winchester Cathedral Choir appear on most of the remaining 16 tracks to offer stirring, and not unaccomplished, versions of favourite carols. Fine in its own way, but, in truth, this reissue is nothing special and will probably only appeal to a telly-obsessed niche market.
