The gathering of 23 male voice choirs from the fifth event of its kind to be held in London, sponsored by the North Wales Association Of Male Voice Choirs. Much of the well-recorded programme features great hymns such as "Bryn Myrddin", a magnificent paen of praise, extolling God's majesty and glory. A section of the evening was devoted to a selection of classic Negro spirituals such as "Ezekiel Saw A Wheel" and "Hand Me Down My Silver Trumpet", sung with passion and respect. Other selections include the Sankey and Moody revival song "I Need Thee Every Hour", "Kumbayah", "Amen", Richter's "The Creation", "The Holy City" and the moving Welsh hymns "Blaenwern" and "Groeswen". Complemented with some lighter material, the atmosphere is fiery, the singing captivating, this concert well communicates the throbbing heart of great Welsh music.
