First in an ongoing series showcasing the growing roster of fine artists based at Calvary Chapel, Merritt Island (formerly Cornerstone Church). Recorded at the Church's own studio, it's a rich sampler of tasty music, impeccably performed. Donna Hale leads off with a crisp acoustic sound on a fine song highlighting her Julie Miller-like vocal style. Track two features Jim And Rosie Anderson's gentle, folkie sound, then it's hello again to Malcolm Wild's old partner in rhyme Alwyn Wall with "Time", a song in true AW tradition, simple, exquisite beauty. An album soon, please. Malcolm Wild offers a new song "Do You Want My Love?" which again reminds us what a supreme singer/songwriter the man is (OK, Pastor?). Two bands are featured, I Witness give a studio version of "Jesus Is Coming Soon" and The Exit song "Struggle" is richly textured, smoothly sculptured and performed. Mark Harden and Kevin Browne serve up good, thoughtful pop, while the beautifully pure clear voices of Janet Kay and Mary Barratt present fine new worship songs. The latter has an album out late '94 and is worth going to hear on her imminent UK visit. Leon Olguin and Phil Keaggy play on the album, but here there are no stars. No hype, no self-promotion, but instead a depth of servanthood spirituality runs through the set. There's a strong sense that the words "To God Be The Glory" in the notes, are, on this occasion at least, a sincere declaration of intent.
