This download EP has been promoting itself as the first Christian dubstep release. It isn't. That honour belongs to the West Country's Digital Pilgrimz but be that as it may, the seven tracks here put together by urban gospel deejay DJ 4Real and featuring various West Midlands talents shows real promise. The artists involved include Breaker, Daniel Walker, Shen and StorMee. The opening track "True Paradox" is probably the most hard-hitting cut on the EP with Breaker on rapping duty and is a well produced and has a deliciously compulsive rhythm. This is followed by the much more soulful "No One (Incredible)" featuring the excellent soul vocals of Daniel Walker. The beats throughout this mini-album are consistently powerful yet varied enough to keep your attention. There are also the obligatory heavy bass lines well executed on "Let Go" which features a vocal from Dee Moore, the diva who electrified us back in 2001 with "Reaching Out To You". Although not everything here is dubstep, this is a strong urban gospel release. Hopefully this is the start of many more good things to come from GL Records.
