Alas not the name of a new dance craze, 'Worship Shuffle' is a 50-song three disc collection designed to be played in random order on your MP3 player. This initially sounds like a good idea but falls short in a number of areas. Firstly, given the effort involved in transferring the tracks onto your player, why bother releasing a disc version when all the tracks are available to download from the Kingsway site anyway? Secondly, despite some familiar favourites making an appearance - "Everlasting God" (Brenton Brown), "The Heart Of Worship" (Matt Redman) and "You Laid Aside Your Majesty" (Noel Richards) amongst others - there is a distinct lack of innovation on offer here given the quality of material Kingsway have at their fingertips. In addition, the overabundance of pedestrian paced songs make for a run of the mill affair and only the likes of the Aaron Keyes' upbeat "You Never Cease To Amaze Me" offer the occasional glimpse of excitement. Lastly, whilst this release might benefit the more seasoned worshipper, the content's rambling content will have younger listeners switching to their Kanye West and Nickelback playlists before you can say "Oh To See The Dawn".
