Kingsway have gathered together 10, mostly well-known, worship songs thematically linked by the concept of God's grace. The standard is high even when songs are not sung by their writers: modern classics such as "Majesty" (Delirious?), "Your Grace Is Enough" (sung here by Marc James) and "All Who Are Thirsty" (Brenton Brown) line up alongside the newer likes of "Your Love Never Fails" (Chris McClarney) and "Because Of Your Love" (Al Gordon). The whole lot are bookended by the more traditional "I Know Not Why God's Wondrous Grace" (D W Whittle's 19th century lyrics adapted and set to new music by Stuart Townend) and the ubiquitous "Amazing Grace" (albeit the Tomlin/Giglio additional chorus version). The majority of the songs have clear, explicit references to grace and so thematically the project is strong, but musically the differences between, say, Delirious? and Michelle Tumes are so great that there is the occasional jarring of mood. One wonders at whom Kingsway are aiming this release; most of those with an interest in modern worship will already possess these recordings. But then you could say the same about many of Kingsway's compilations.
