It is now 20 years since the death of Keith Green. In 1992 the tribute album 'No Compromise' was released, now another 10 years on we have another album. The title track was originally written as the title track for Phil Keaggy's second solo album. The excellent performance of Rebecca St James still retains the influence of Phil Keaggy on guitar and bgvs making it one of the best songs here. Some of the tracks just do not live up to their full potential. The normally excellent Michelle Tumes provides a rather unimpressive version of "There Is A Redeemer" and Darlene Zschech appears unable to provide the vocal range that "How Majestic Is Thy Name" cries out for. The mixing of new music and vocals with Keith Green's original recording of "Oh Lord, You're Beautiful" by Martin Smith and Jason Upton, though technically well done, does seem to spoil a classic original recording. But then Martin Smith's version of "Create In Me A Clean Heart" is an excellent interpretation and full of the emotion this song calls for. Charlie Hall and Joanne Hogg's arrangement of "The Lord Is My Shepherd" is another highlight. Apart from a few exceptions, like Twila Paris' "Rushing Wind" and Sarah Sadler's "Draw Me", most of the arrangements are very different and many unrecognisable from the original recordings of Keith Green. Overall the album fails to do full justice to the outstanding musical heritage of Keith Green. It is unlikely to go down well with many that love the original recordings, it will however serve as an introduction to a generation who have not grown up with the music of Keith Green.
