The lyrics of much modern worship has oft-times been discredited as theologically shallow, if not decidedly “me”-centred. Vineyard has been the focus of some criticism, with spurious song titles like “I Love To Love You”, etc. Here, however, is a collection of V-songs that focus on the very heart of the Christian faith - the Cross. They cover the entire period of Vineyard output, one song with a very traditional feel dating way back to 1979! Tracks are picked from a diverse range of recordings - so diverse that it's unlikely you'll know every one. Some, like “Holy And Anointed One” and “Redeemed” (taken from a lesser-known but highly acclaimed Vineyard album which also celebrates the Cross ('Why We Worship: The Cross') - are purposely acoustic and meditative; a couple of others are chosen from recent UK releases and carry a powerful upbeat flavour. Okay, so this team is adept at milking the market with their flowing stream of compilations (this one appropriately timed for Easter). Yet, with fine vocals/melodies and a striking theme - 'This Is Love' is bound to make an impact.
