The Vineyard Collection Vol 3 as the name suggests is the latest compilation of the Vineyard Fellowship's worship songs. Yet another worship tape? No, it's an awful lot more. Vineyard worship albums have an air of quality and reverence that often fails to come through on lesser material. There is a good balance between the temporal and the spiritual, on the most basic level there are no "duff technical bits" that interrupt the worship experience for the listener. The musical arrangements are on the whole excellent as is the production. Personally the only areas that I was not impressed by were a rather "too nice" flute arrangement on the instrumental version of "Refiners Fire" and a couple of sections of applause at the end of tracks. You might really appreciate them though. The material is drawn from a good selection of writers, Kevin Prosch, Andy Park, Craig Musseau etc and covers a good range of styles. Of the 15 tracks two received a great deal more play than the others, "Shout To The Lord" and "Call The Elders". I can't claim to be a worship album collector but there is definitely a place for this album in my listening repertoire.
