Voice For Jesus, or V4J for short, are Hammad Baily and Sally Everett from the cosmopolitan music capital of..erm..Slough. This album contains a most interesting variety of styles. I noted (in no particular order) Hebrew, quasi-Eurovision, soft rock ("Can You See My Heart Lord"), reggae (the atmospheric "Nowhere Is No Place To Be") and Asian influence (check the tabla on "Jesus I Come" and "Come On All You Nations"). Apparently the duo regularly sing songs in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi and perhaps it is the sheer breadth of variety that leads to an impression of V4J maybe trying to stretch things just that little bit too far to create a satisfying whole. Hammad and Sally's voices are pleasant if not particularly strong and distinctive, but the songs are sincere and heartfelt enough.
