The pounding "A Thousand Colours", taken from Swiss band Volplane's latest album, recently spent time at the top of the Cross Rhythms Radio chart and, together with the album as a whole, it signals the fact this foursome are most definitely on the ascent. Whilst there is an overriding Coldplay feel to proceedings ("I Am Free" and "Moments" being prime examples), the boys are at their best when exploring their own style in the likes of the new single "Let The Game Start" which mixes rock with hip-hop and dance to create something rather special. Elsewhere, the stunningly imaginative and delightfully heavy "Reality" proves that the band can rock out to great effect whilst a powerfully raw vocal from lead singer Toby Ferrari on the title track is a stand out moment. Avowedly a mainstream band, direct references to the band's Christian faith are kept securely locked away and, despite "It's Coming" hinting at Jesus' return, all lyrics are kept generic enough to presumably appeal to as wide an audience as possible.
