An EP followup to the eponymous full-length album, this is a Christmas project from Darren Mulligan and his fellow Messengers. The Irishman now living in Nashville delivers four original songs, although one of them "From Heaven To Earth" integrates a little bit of "Joy To The World" into its structure. 'God With Us' nimbly sidesteps the cliches of Christmas music. So no cheesy arrangements, no chestnuts roasting (on or off an open fire) and plenty of joyful proclamation of the pivotal point in human history when God became a baby. Both the stirring title track and the slower, dramatic "Flesh & Bone" sound like songs you'd want to return to in future Christmases. Good stuff.
