Wes, the son of country music and CCM journalist Paul Davis, has been touring Britain's country circuit with the likes of George Hamilton IV over the last few years. But if you were expecting a country-style album you'd be disappointed. Wes' forte is light pop-gospel with catchy hooks and despite a rather characterless voice Wes' songwriting skill keeps the listener's attention even when the perfunctory nature of the low-budget production shows a musical gap or two. As a bonus the CD also offers you Wes' earlier 'One Of Us' album, which, though produced by country man Jerry Arhelger, isn't country either. A better songwriter than singer. Wes is still an undeniable talent.
