The husband and wife duo from Staffordshire Whiteraven have been making music for as long as Cross Rhythms have been writing about it. Their gentle lilting sound isn't to everybody's taste but down the years they have shown themselves to be loyal journeymen to the grassroots scene. The title track on this set is a long sax-based instrumental and has a floating ambient quality which will connect with more mature tastes. Occasionally the arrangements get a little over complicated but on the whole the ability to float from style to style while keeping their distinctive ethereal sound makes for a project that is never less than interesting. There is a praise and worship album from Whiteraven coming soon but in the meantime this low key though appealing set will connect with those unimpressed by the more bombastic forms of CCM.
