Wildwood Kin are an indie/Americana/folk trio from Exeter in Devon comprising of two sisters, Beth and Emillie Key and their cousin Meghann Loney. The music is a mix of their own original songs with a few covers. Their voices evoke an almost mystical sound as they accompany themselves on a range of acoustic instruments. My best description would be something similar to the popular female trio I'm With Her, but somewhat more heavy, almost a bit rocky at times. "Steady My Head" is the sort of clever modern type lyric which you could perhaps understand in different ways. After a few plays the album becomes quite addictive and if you are prepared to make the effort to listen to such as "Cold Wind Blows", an evocative other worldly atmosphere is conveyed. The more you hear it the more intriguing it becomes. Aimed at the increasingly crowded Americana scene, clearly Wildwood Kin have the talent to find their own niche.
