Yancy has been rocking for 10 years, leading worship, writing books and producing albums. Since her 2001 debut '6.5 Stories' she has worked with the likes of Nichole Nordeman, Newsboys, Sonic Flood and 4Him and she co-wrote Avalon's hit "I Don't Want To Go". This album is consciously aimed at pre-teens and is full of bouncy but gritty songs, some of them clearly intended as songs of worship ("One Of A Kind", "Shout") and others as life-affirming and inspiring ("I'm Really Happy", "Dreams Will Come True"). It's well-produced by Yancy herself with John Mitchell, with some good solid backing musicians. There's nothing wildly original about the songs, but they should appeal to the target audience and they even got the toes of a middle-aged reviewer tapping at times. The only thing which spoiled the set for me was the inclusion of a few saccharine-voiced pre-teens speaking over the music, but that's a small whinge about what is otherwise a very good album.
