A five song EP taken from the forthcoming full length Zebedee's Star album and another bunch of students squandering their low interest student loans on rock-ist pursuits! Fourpiece Zebedee's Star (isn't that a great name?}. The cleverly ear-catching "Into The Blue" kicks off proceedings with unnaturally long musical pauses that have you paying attention. Incidentally, this would give radio preĀsenters cardiac arrests! Then we gel the jangly atmospheric "Secure" which has me trying to decide whether it's wimp rock or compelling and I give them the benefit of the doubt and plump for the latter. However with more jangliness on "Ashamation" and the raggedy sound of this EP, particularly vocally, it is beginĀning to get on my nerves! "Lost In Myself" and "I Just Don't Know" have a bit more energy than the rest of this but it's still chaotic with weak vocals. I thought perhaps the wimpy sound was some sort of intelligent Oxford undergraduate irony but I'm left to conclude that instead, it's just that Zebedee's Star aren't very good! But there is one bright thought - at least they're not trying to sound like Delirious?.
