In the Southern States gospel male quartets are very much the norm and were of course once a huge musical influence on a young Elvis Presley.  But I must admit such famous names as The Stamps, Blackwood Brothers, Cathedrals et al have never done much for me.  Too sugary.  So this is a first for British gospel, four Irishmen with those deep pleasant voices produced by that fine artist Crawford Bell give us an authentic sounding rendition of Southern gospel with tight harmonies and plenty of down home atmosphere.  It's all very pleasant, a collection of 10 mainly well known gospel favourites including "I'd Rather Have This", "How Big Is God".  In fact, it's grown on me quite considerably.  Very pleasant, easy listening which would appeal to others who don't normally enjoy country music.
