A Donut-Shaped Hole?

This is always a difficult thing. What was the Reformation all about? In short, the 5 Solas, that being Salvation by Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, on the authority of Scripture Alone, because of Christ Alone, and Glory to God Alone (meaning who is to credit for our salvation). While I'm sure some Catholics as individuals would embrace Faith Alone, Catholicism as a system has denied it (see the Council of Trent) and therein lies the biggest distinction between Catholics and Protestants. How are we justified before a Holy God? If a Catholic (or anybody else for that matter) would deny salvation by faith alone, apart from any of our works, then it would deny the perfect substituitonary atonement of Christ and the suffiency of the imputation of His righteousness to us, thus leaving them in their sin. If a Catholic would embrace the Solas of the Reformation, then one would question if they were indeed Catholic and not Protestant by defenition.
