This is, by turns, a chaotic, skilled, metallic, jazzy, thoughtful, active, energetic, relaxed, quirky, serious, intelligent, alien, album. Vatten were (and uindeed maybe are...) a highly accomplished Swedish heavy-ish three-piece band with strong "Jesus Rock" overtones and the ability to turn a neat musical phrase and to listen to and play-off each other as only a really good three-piece can. Lyrically adept (but with a unique flavouring to their lyrics caused, I guess, by translation from Swedish), they manage to convey the seriousness of accomplished Jazz players within a HEAVY framework, without ever succumbing to "Jazz Odyssey" - type pretentiousness. If you can get your hands on "Plain Water" do so - it's an overlooked classic...
