Deliverance was not the first christian metal band. Nor were they alone in the attempt to mix Thrash metal riffs like Metallica and Megadeth with uplifting lyrics of the promise of God's unconditional love and his always open arms. But what they did to me when I was only 11 or 12. Was introduce me to a great way of expression. They had a balanced attack of ripping guitars, shredding solos, and fast beats. But they still had groove. They had the ability to make me want to play. To make me want to imitate the thrash metal sound, no matter what my message was. I will always remember them.
