Great article! I would add that to those without the Spirit of God it should not be a surprise that they do not recognise their own spirit as their spirit is in subjection to their sinful nature. One of the things that always amuses me is how we in the West believe that we know all things. If we did a survey of the 6 plus billion people in the world we might be surprised to find that the majority of them believe we are spiritual beings. I don't so much think that we do not think we possess a spirit, but we call it something else. I was reading an article recently from a non-christian philosopher and he aptly pointed out that science still does not know where the mind is. Hawkins may think he is relying on his brain, but actually it's his mind that he is using. It would be interesting to see how closely the mind and spirit are related. sorry about waffling on.
