You have to admire Gary somewhat in spite of all that was happening in his life at this time, he manages to keep the music going. Aside from the recording studio, he hosts the TNN popular Sam's Place; he has success in getting Amy Grant to appear for the December '97 show. I prefer Gary's ccm verses Christmas, however I do like the music for opening "Rudolph". Gary sang quite an edited version of "O Holy Night" for the Christmas at Sam's Place. He appears to have taken what one might call an Amy approach on "Hark the Herald Angels". Gary's self penned cd title song "This Gift", in it's heart felt lyrics are spelled out the heart -breaking news of his initial separation from Amy. Maybe Gary should have waited to record vocals for this Christmas album a year or more after things settled down more, there is sadness in his voice with every song heard. Christmas is a joyous time of the year. The above writer has quite an open view, but rather leaves space for personal views. God Bless, Don
