Abide With Me

Comment:
Betty Lou never recorded an album called Abide With Me. The hymn was one track on an album called Something Old, Something New. Pilgrim Records financed the recording and paid for an excellent orchestra of top London session musicians. The recording quality and the playing were peerless. Betty Lou sang with her usual perfect tuning, clear diction and intelligent phrasing. The producer didn't quite manage to make the best of the raw material at his disposal. As you may guess from the title, the album consisted of six traditional hymns and six new songs by Betty Lou. The finished product may not be to your taste but the quality is as high as you'll find on any record, Christian or secular.
