Sorry to disapoint you but "I'll Be Home For Christmas" was writtern as an ironic song in 1943 about the soldiers WHO Would Not Be Home For Christmas" as if it is being sung by a ghost. and he sings it with just enough irony in his voice.

This is one of the best (possibly the best) christmas albums I have ever heard. Bob Dylan sings like he really means every word of it. I can imagine that it really works when you hear this music on christmas eve somewhere in dark corner in a big town and you really start to feel 'Christmas in the heart'.
There is a version of 'Silent Night' by Tom Waits.
I hope that he records a whole christmas album as well.
