Here is a new name for us to watch out for in Christian hip-hop. Dreyson Clark aka Double Portion's debut full length album apparently is "changing not only the face of holy rap music, but music worldwide". A bold claim indeed! There is no doubt that Double Portion is very talented and his raps come off clear and precise and the fact that he has also sold several thousand units in the secular realm before his conversion is not to be taken lightly. He is also not afraid to tackle serious subjects within the body of Christ which others might shy away from like lust, pride, etc. However the holy hip-hop community is full of top quality acts and promising new ones, it might be a bit difficult to stand out in a crowded marketplace and to be honest, I have listened to this a few times but nothing is sticking in my head. I do hope though that Double Portion sticks to his guns as I believe he has the talent to produce the goods. But this isn't really them.
