Considering that Merseyside singer Chris has been touching audiences with her warm, expressive voice for 20 years it's amazing that it's taken 'til now for Chris to make her solo debut. It's producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Sammy Horner we have to thank for Chris' belated but welcome appearance onto the CD racks. Between them Mercer and Horner have crafted a delightfully eclectic musical concoction. One moment the listener is caught up in plaintive Celtic music, next moment he's enveloped in yearning country (the song "Jesus And You" - a duet with Sammy Horner - is already a turntable hit on numerous country gospel stations around the world), while elsewhere old time rockaboogie (the opener "All Because Of You"), the wistfully sweet "Distant Time" and the swampy, bluesy "Greatest Comeback" all catch the ear. Throughout Chris' singing is sweet, tender and absolutely convincing.

Unlike too many albums on the market today, each of these
tracks has a distinctive sound and feel. This album having
both styles of music (Country and Western) along with upbeat
rock and more contemplative assortments allows the listener
to enjoy the entire CD more than once a week. I enjoyed all
the songs, but “Innocence Lost To Love” is probably my
favorite. I have enjoyed Chris’ music for a number of
years it is great having this new album to add to my
collection. With it on CD I won’t wear it out like the
tapes and vinyl of the earlier period.
