The Enfield Citadel Band was formed in 1892 in Tottenham and with the merging of two Salvation Army corps moved to Enfield in the 1970s. This album contains mostly compositions either written for the band or by those with close connections with them. The opener "Battle Ready" with its upbeat majestic feel sets the pace for the album along with tracks like the inspiring "The Call Of The Righteous" and Bach's "Fugue in D Minor", one of two tracks more widely known, the other being the gentle "Anthem" from 'Chess'. There are also other gentler moments with "Prayer Gently Lifts Me" and also "Knowing My Failings" which contains skilful trombone soloist Andrew Justice, giving the track an approachable focus, and is to my mind one of the most outstanding tracks on a collection of first rate pieces skilfully delivered.

Product Description
This recording showcases a programme by Enfield Citadel Band which exploits the band’s rich bonds and links with composers and arrangers, and mirrors a perceived dichotomy between those who have been members and leaders of the band and those who have given of their time and talents to write for the band. It also offers the band an opportunity to express its indebtedness to all who have supported its ministry in this way.
