Inevitably some will greet the launch of this new worship resource with "not another sign-on-the-line instant worship kit?" II will be their loss. 'Heart Of Worship' is not simply a cassette of worship songs but a fresh approach to worship resourcing. The idea is to meet the needs of the worship leader/musician on a variety of levels. The introductory pack consists of a music folder containing piano part, vocal/guitar part and master sheet for OHP acetates, a tape with studio-quality recordings of the new songs and a 'filofax' style folder of study material. This latter is particularly worthy of attention. The articles are grouped under headings: Biblical Foundations, Lifestyle Worship, Worship Leader, Singer, Technical etc. Whether used by individuals for private study or as the basis for group ministry they provide insight and advice from such well respected names as Chris Bowater, David Hadden and Noel Richards. The quarterly updates will see ongoing themes developed and new ideas introduced. Practical matters are not overlooked. The initial two features on effective use of OHP and, that old thorn ir the flesh, PA systems should be understandable by the least technically minded. The accompanying tape is produced by Geoff Twigg and features vocals by Lovelight. The recordings are functional and leave plenty of scope for arrangement. Each new batch of three will aim to cover a wide range of musical styles and be consistent with what the Lord is saying to the Church now! But please can He say it in a lower key? The first tape also feature: some enlightening comments from those involved in putting thi package together though Chris Bowater's performance as an interviewer is hardly in the Wogan league. In his introductory Bible study he says "A desire to know, to meet Him. This is the key to the spirit filled worship of God" - no resource pack, however well produced, can replace commitment but this project will help the developmen of those who want a "Heart Of Worship".
