Originally this album was part of a Cash boxed set but proved so popular the record label are offering it as a single CD for a limited time. The death of the Man In Black in 2003 has caused for a revision of his lengthy career and although he wrestled with the personal demons of drink and drugs, in his later years it is certain that Cash found the peace of a life walked closely with Jesus. These songs express some key spiritual points that motivated his life. There's "Suppertime" where memories of his mother calling him in for supper reminds him of a bigger call to a feast that will happen when he dies. The same goes for "Lead Me Home" and then on "Country Trash" he recognises that rich and poor are alike in that when we die we both face God in the same fashion. That thought it extended in "Man In Black" where his heart for the poor is expressed and "I Talk To Jesus Every Day" is a self-explanatory simple song of faith. Themes of justice, faith overcoming the trials of poverty and a future in the hands of God permeated his life and his songs and 'Life' celebrates the spiritual side of an extraordinary life.
